Observe without being observed

It pays to be aware, to be in touch of the elements present in your surroundings. Threat? Opportunity? Promise?

The photographer observes but prefers not to be observed lest his/her presence affects the scene or subject. The vérité of the unposed street scene, the intensity of the unaware. Camouflage, downwind, long lens, camera trap, remote control - stratagems and techniques that can help.

But sometimes you are out there and your presence is noticed.

The cubs are vigilant. Their instinct is to scan, to read, and to be ready. They stay close and mimic their elders. A high vantage point affords a superior view, but it exposes, only the body of your sibling providing the most basic of cover. The pride offers protection, not just education.
