Two’s company
He waits until she looks the other way then sidles along the branch. It is not long until Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and soon ‘the sap will be rising’. The first expressions of intent, the next cycle of life.
The parakeets have made Brussels and the European cities their home. More than other species they seem to cooperate as small groups and so hold their own against the heftier crows, blackbirds, and pigeons.
Not so easy to get eye-level when your subject is 8m or so off the ground, but this is what I see with an 800mm telephoto from my 3rd floor window. Small recompense for the hours and days out there with little to show for it. Even when the circumstances are advantageous, you still have to compose well, capture the gesture. Colours do not so much attract the light but when offset against a dark background, you might think it were so.
Behind every great shot, there are hundreds of hours of patient toil, thousands of duds, hours and kilometres spent - no invested - in the pursuit of un petit moment d’éternité.
